Eclipse Gymnastics – Awards Evening 2017

eclipse-gymnastics-010317After a hard day in the office, it is always nice to get out and to do something worthwhile.  This evening, this was fulfilled by my latest visit to Eclipse Gymnastics in Rushden and the task – why, to photograph their annual awards evening, of course and to capture some more great memories for the kids, teenagers and their families.

With the normal tough lighting in the room and the zoom lens working overtime (I must get used to moving myself, but this was not overly easy this evening) my task was to keep my on-camera flash settings correctly adjusted to balance the light and match the variable zoom being used.  I think, and hope, that I got it about right and the lack of throw away images confirm that.

The evening began with balloons on the floor and these are always a huge temptation for kids to go just a little crazy and the guys at Eclipse are no exception.  With a brief to get the awards, the camera came out early and I captures just a few images from the pre-presentation part of the event.  It was then on to the presentations and then a mad dash home to get the images processed and online.

As I type this, the gallery is uploading and it should be live real soon.

Thank you to Eclipse Gymnastics for inviting me back for another of their great events celebrating a fantastic group of gymnasts and individuals.

The gallery is available on www.m4photo.co.uk and it’s open to all Eclipse Gymnastics members and their families with the usual username and password.

Eclipse Awards Evening

eclipse-gymnastics-240216Tonight I was back at Eclipse and this time covering their annual awards evening.  This is an annual event during which the club recognises and awards gymnasts who have improved the most throughout the past twelve months.  With around 200 gymnasts in the club, gaining the attention of the coaches and getting an accolade is an achievement indeed.

Anyway, I would like to firstly congratulate everyone at Eclipse for another amazing year. Not just the award winners who were recognised this evening, but all of the gymnasts, coaches and helpers that make these club events and performances go so well.

The show was amazing this year and it was a pleasure to sit for far too many hours studying the performances. It was just too hard to pick the best routines for the DVD and thank you to my Ellie for spending so much time with me picking the right routines.

This evening was great as well and I am pleased to announce that the photographs from the evening are now on-line – www.m4photo.co.uk. You will need the usual login details from the club if you don’t have them already.

The photographs are available to order by email (martyn@m4photo.co.uk). Just let me know the image number/s from the large preview and I’ll email you further details. As usual, 15% from the total sale will be donated to the club.

Terry, please let me know (by email) which images numbers you want for club use and I’ll email them over to you ASAP.

11th in Gurushots Challenge

I was recently excited to notice that one of my images had been selected by one of the Guru’s in one of the Gurushots Challenges.  I have since been watching that challenge and getting more and more excited as I worked my way up the rankings.

With nearly 3000 people having entered over 9,000 images I was pleased to make it into the top ‘All Star’ ranking and then to make the top 50 places.  However, this got better an better and today I found myself in 11th place.

I am not one of life’s winners and I would never dare to hope for one of the top spots, but to say that this has rounded off a nice day would be an understatement – I’m gobsmacked.

I have also managed to make All Star in another challenge and earlier this evening I entered my Poppies image and three others into a back-lit challenge.  Those images are also doing well with reaching 33rd place at the moment out of 1,140 entrants.  With 20 days of voting left to run on that one, it’ll be another interesting challenge to watch.

Eclipse 2015 Awards Evening

Firstly, I’d like to thank everyone at Eclipse Gymnastics in Rushden for allowing me to share yet another great evening with the club.

Tonight was their annual awards evening and disco. This is the evening where the club gathers together and the coaches present awards to the most improved gymnast in each of the numerous categories and age groups that the club holds during the week.  There is also an award for the top club gymnast.

Well done to all of the award winners.  I am privileged to have seen how so many of you have grown into strong, disciplined and skilled gymnasts and these awards are well earned.

Anyway, I was on call to work the evening and as usual the kids kept me extremely busy.  I am pleased to now confirm that the photographs are now on the M4Photo website in the usual Eclipse Gallery.  The gallery is password protected, so please contact Terry or one of the coaches for the username and password.  These details are not available direct from M4Photo.

I hope that all of the gymnasts and parents like the images.

I owe some of you digital .jpg files as part of the offer this evening. Those digital files will be created and emailed tomorrow because it is now getting a little late and it was one busy evening :).
