Kettering Archers’ Easter Charity Clout Shoot photographs are now online for viewing here.

Yesterday, I headed over to Kettering for Kettering Archers annual Easter Clout shoot.  This year’s shoot was in aid of Cransley Hospice and with the weather not forecast to be favourable, the numbers of archers attending was something of a lottery.

However, the rain held off for most of the shoot and, whilst overcast and a damp feel in the air, a good time was had by everyone.

The field was impeccable, as always, and shooting away from the cricket pavilion, the field was laid out with three specially made straw Easter bunnies.  The closest would be for the juniors, the one in the middle for the ladies and the gents would be shooting a bunny set out in five concentric scoring rings 180 paces down the field.

With around 40 archers shooting at the same time, I would have to take the usual position just slightly behind the archers.  I got onto the shooting line a couple of times but my main issue was always going to be the weather.  The day was very overcast and the sky was getting a little darker and heavier throughout the shoot.  The inevitable rain came during the last but one end of arrows and the camera had to go away, costing me shots of the last group of archers.

Hopefully, I got most people during the day and I hope that one or two of the images are liked by the archers themselves.  The photographs have now been posted to and £2.50 from each purchase will be going to the charity via Kettering Archers.

Finally, a thank you to John for letting me photograph the event and to his team for putting on another great shoot.
